We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
What better place to have a garden than at church! We're excited about this concept. The sketch that you see above is a basic visual representation of our initial ideas. The garden will feature areas for a small structure, flower beds, vegetable beds, a small orchard, a compost bin, and rainwater collection system to name a few,
Our goal is to share the message of Jesus through the creation of a multipurpose outreach center that offers, in part, kids of various ages educational opportunities through exploring and better understanding the science of God's creation.
Do you want to be a part of something new? Send us a message at stjohns@becometruthstrong.com or better come to a worship service at 9:45 Sunday mornings. We look forward to hearing from you!
To become a follower of Jesus, one learns that strength and perseverance are essential. St. John's Church has been around since 1896, in part, because of people's willingness to persevere in the never-ending pursuit of God's Truth through His son Jesus. Furthermore, we recognize the importance of highlighting these traits in teachers and students: our future.
Addilyn "Addi" Emma Austin lived in North Carolina. She attended St. John's Church on special occasions with her family. Addi was described by her schoolteacher as "an old soul in a young body." She wanted to be a scientist when she grew up. She treasured being a big sister and spending time with her family, loved doing and making things for others, and found so much joy in even the small things. Addi had to endure tremendous suffering at the end of her life, but she continually demonstrated a will to overcome.
To honor the memory of the members of St. John's Church that found strength and persevered through the difficulties of sustaining a church, and to honor the memory of a seven-year-old girl that learned to overcome fear despite pain and uncertainty, we are planning to launch the Addilyn Austin Memorial Education Fund Presented by St. John's Church. Our minicamps are designed for the purpose of introducing kids to the mysteries, power, and magnificence of God. Our first camp is planned for September 7, 2024. You can learn more by clicking below. This is the first minicamp in what we hope to be many more!
Imagine for a moment that you've lived in your home for 50 years. Your spouse passed away, and you're trying to make ends meet on a fixed income. Overall, your health is good, but you've developed worsening vision problems and are losing your sight. You're among the last surviving members of your family. You have several friends that you enjoy interacting with, but they're also older and on a fixed income. You worked hard all of your life and saved what you could, but costs keep rising. You love your home, but where do you turn when the home needs costly repairs?
Or imagine that you had major back surgery and can no longer walk without mechanical assistance. Your home is now a maze of obstacles. Perhaps the kitchen counter is too high, or you can no longer reach the top cabinets, or maybe you can't get into the kitchen altogether because the door is too narrow for your wheelchair. Do you have any options to modify your home to help meet these needs?
The Adopt-A-Home ministry is designed to help homeowners in these situations. Our goal is to show the compassion of Jesus by being advocates to help find solutions. As a Church, we can work with homeowners to identify specific needs and then support efforts to find licensed contractors to make necessary changes. We hope to partner with other churches to raise money to help offset the cost of home modifications or repairs. We look forward to beginning this ministry to help people adapting to life's challenges have one less concern.
